Moscow Atrocity – Day of Mourning (my post when it happened, and my post one year later)

The atrocity, the terrorist attack, in Moscow two days ago, will never be forgotten. The love for our departed, the grief, and the righteous indignation and need for justice will be everlasting. God is not mocked.

Today, March 24, 2024, is the Day of Mourning.

We grieve and pray for the murdered. Vechnaya Pamyat. Eternal Memory.

We pray for the survivors. We pray for the families of all.

The pain of millions in Holy Russia and loving individuals worldwide call out to God today.

Let us remember the words of Christ:
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. (Matthew 5:3-12, KJV).

The sorrow we experience will only strengthen our resolve, with God’s divine wisdom and guidance, to dedicate ourselves to the truth in fighting all evil.

I share two pieces of music.

*A beautiful and poignant hymn we sing for the deceased at the end of Orthodox memorials and funerals: Vechnaya Pamyat (Eternal Memory) by the Orthodox Choir of Moscow

*A powerful song, in tribute and memorial to the victims of the March 22, 2024, horrific attack at Crocus City Hall in Moscow (click CC to display English subtitles): РЕКВИЕМ 22.03.24, REQUIEM 03/22/24 (music and lyrics: SHAMAN) (In July 2024, YouTube banned the fine Russian singer and composer, SHAMAN. More spiritual insanity from the West. His channel on YouTube was very popular. Now, all the videos he posted have been removed, and this message appears: “Video unavailable This video is no longer available because the YouTube account associated with this video has been terminated.”) UPDATE – SEE POST BELOW ON THE ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY FOR THIS SONG.

Let Us Remember

On this day, we remember the horrific murder of 145 civilians as they attended a family concert at Crocus City Hall (Moscow Oblast, Russia). The music venue seated over 6,000 people and was host to many musical performers and events for domestic and foreign performers. In addition to the dead, about 400 more were injured. Mothers and fathers — grandmothers and grandfathers — all with their children out for a night of enjoyment… only to be targeted.
The tragic atrocity in which families attending, including children, as it was a musical event for youth, were shot by gunmen and the building set ablaze, is remembered in Russia on this day — this being the first year anniversary. We grieve and pray for the murdered. Vechnaya Pamyat. Eternal Memory. We pray for the survivors. We pray for the families of all.
I share a poignant song written and released by the fine Russian singer SHAMAN — who immediately wrote and shared it the following day… REQUIEM powerfully expressed the deep emotions of many of us at the time and now. It was cathartic. It expressed the pain of millions in Holy Russia and loving individuals worldwide calling out to God after this atrocity. The original from the singer was repeatedly removed by YouTube (as was the singer’s channel); here is a copy someone has recently posted — I recommend that if you do not speak Russian that you click CC so you can read the words in English.
